Thanks for your comments Jenny and Ian, we're sorry you experienced problems. The Environment Agency are delivering vital flood defence and surface improvements on the Morston to Blakeney section of the Norfolk Coast Path.
Due to nature conservation and weather conditions, the project start was significantly delayed. However it is hoped to be completed by the end of July.

Every effort is being made to accommodate walkers for the project duration. There will be temporary diversions in place, which due to the lack of alternative footpaths, will use some roads. These will be clearly signed on site.
Please take extra care walking on the road, where we have been informed by the Environment Agency, there will be signage warning vehicles of increased walker activity. It is possible to use the Coasthopper bus service in order to avoid this small section of road walking.

We appreciate your patience during the project and give assurance of minimum disruption and an end result that will enhance the experience for our users.

We walked the Norfolk Coast path this week. We also found the section between Morston Quay and Blakeney closed. No advance information warning of this was displayed in either direction back towards Hunstsnton or from the Cromer direction. Other walkers went onto the main road and found it very dangerous. Why did the contractors or those on the Council responsible for the Norfolk Trails not publicise this eg by information notices attached to trail path signs further back? Why no warning in tourist publications? Even the CoastHopper bus driver on the route did not know about it.

Doing the coast path this week but today was spoilt a bit. Set off from morston and was accosted by a guy in a visi jacket who turned me and other folks back. No authority quoted but he referred to the work going on - which I could see. There appeared to be no information about the closure of the path and no alternative route as far as I could see. The guy in the visi jacket said I would have to go by the main road. This proved to be very dangerous. There were many blind spots and the cars were going fast. Probably far more dangerous than going on the normal route!! Sorry folks - not impressed. Call me an old curmudgeon if you will.....

I walked the section between Castle Acre and Sedgeford today, really enjoyed it.
The section north of Bircham was signposted 'Road Closed, having read the previous comments, i wonder if the signage could have been more informative, it doesn't say exactly why this area is closed and gives the impression it could be closed to all traffic.

Thanks for your comment about the closed path - Following further degrading of the surface by motorised vehicle use, we have closed the section to such use for a 12 month period. In this time we will be carrying out repairs to stabilise the surface. This essential maintenance work is being delivered as part of the National and Norfolk Trails Quality Standards.

The stretch of path from the Bircham road northwards appears to be closed as there are 'Road Closed' signs

Three aged and infirm old boys did Peddar's way 2nd, 3rd & 4th October 2012. It was a brilliant walk, well sign posted, one or two signs were broken but in situ so all was well. We stayed at the Hare & Barrel and the Dabbling Duck. Both places were excellent with really friendly staff.Day one and day three we needed to carry food for lunch but no problem especially after the hugh Full English on day three! The website for the walk provided all the necessary information, trains from Norwich to Thetford were frequent and a taxi took us to the start point at Knettishall. Well done Norfolk CC for maintaining the route.

Completed the Peddars Way last April over the royal wedding weekend. Thoroughly enjpyed the walk. Very peaceful with hardly anyone else in view for most of the time. Stayed at the Old Windmill Inn (Gt Cressingham) and The Dabbling Duck (Gt Massingham) both were excellent and dog friendly. Would recommend the walk. Doing the costal path next month and looking forward to that.

My family & I walked the Coast Path this summer & Peddars Way the summer before. Much to my surprize we found finding places to camp much easier along Peddars Way. Very dissapointed to be told by Deepdale Backpackers that they only excepted campsite bookings for 7 nights or more during August!! how that can be called a place for backpackers I still haven't worked out :)

Me and friend ran along the length of the Pedders Way in one go taking eight and half hours. What a great maintained Path, easy to follow with excellent signage. Very much enjoyed the day.

I am planning an exceedingly delightful walk along the beautiful norfolk coast line. I would like to show my consideration and appreciation for Norfolk in general, and also Scotland, a little bit as well. Thanks a many Bar x

We were lucky enough to enjoy perfect weather for walking this wonder full path(PW). The scenery was beautiful, you should never tire of the sights along the way. We stayed in a wonderful B+B in Thompson on the first night which was run by an even more wonderful lady called Lavendar who at the grand age of 84 ran the B+B single handed. On the second leg we stayed in The Dabbling Duck in Great Massingham, which again was lovely, but i'll never forget Lavendar. We were met at the end of our walk by Maggie's wonderful parents Henry and Joan who brought us much needed nourishment!

Walked in Sections on several visits 2004-2006 - Now finished.
The route easy to follow and many wonderful villages and towns experienced. The PW and the NCP obviously have a very different feel to each other and both have been extremely rewarding - I feel mentally cleansed (probably the sea air!)
and finishing the last mile into Cromer was wonderful but also sad - the END?...but not to despair, the Weavers Way comes next...

There are now new facilities opening in Burnham Deepdale, right on the walk. They include a cafe, backpackers hostel, tourist information centre, campsite, convenience store and other shops. Worth a stop when you are passing. Many of the facilities are already open with more open by the end of April. See http://www.burnhamdeepdale.co.uk for more information.

I broke the walk up into two long weekends - Peddars Way in spring 2004 & the Coast Path at the end of the summer (after the tourists have gone home!)Both sections are hard work but doable in two days each, about 20 or so miles each day. You should be able to get to Castle Acre from Knettishall on day one, although overnight accomodation is hard to find on this section (I camped in the beer garden of one of the pubs in Castle Acre seeing as business was slow that day). Next day I got to Holme, then got the coast hopper bus to Sheringham & the train home to Norwich. The Coast Path is much easier in that respect, you won`t have to walk much more than a couple of miles between shops, pubs or B&B`s but it is sligtly longer, I did 25 miles on the first day, overnighted in Blakeney, and finished off the next day in Cromer, getting the train home to Norwich again.

I walked Peddars Way/Coast path in its entirity in 1999 and found it so refreshing after walking the infamous Coast to Coast path and Offars Dyke in previous years. The scenery was wonderful with such contrasts inland compared to the sea section. Accommodation was not always easy especially around Holme where I had to detour to Hunstanton.
I intend to explore the area in greater detail by bicycle - it`s amazing what one can get up to when one has retired!

My daughter and I got home on Saturday evening after 3 very enjoyable days walking parts of the path.

I just want to say how well maitained the path was and how good we found the standard of way marking.

Thank you also for arranging for the sun to shine while we were walking.

Use Deepdale farm (Burnham Deepdale), Pinewoods Holiday Park (Wells-Next-Sea) and Stiffkey Campsite(stiffkey). All are well priced(especially for backpackers) and offer good facilities!
